As soon as you unpack it, there is no need to employ any software. Most of the functions are activated by scanning the respective bar code function included in the operation manual.

I use 3×5 cards to organize my todos and I have software that prints a QR Code on the back of the cards as an index. That way I can scan the card and go to the entry in my files quickly. This reader stays plugged in to my USB hub and using the keyboard emulation, I simply need to waive my card over the reader. The reader detects if there is a change in light level and will begin scanning, so it is effectivly “always on”. I have two of these now. One for my office at work and another for my home office.
