This product is very expensive for someone who is not a professional networking person; which I am not. This device not only tells you the length of a cable, but IDs the cable if you use multiple cables. Perhaps the best reason for this is its ability to ID a switch, port number, VLAN, and POE rating. Working for a giant corporate company, wherein it’s like pulling teeth to get information from another department: this device cuts through the red tape and tells me what I need to know. While I use this for work, I paid for it myself so at the end of the day: this is my tool. I’m satisfied with my purchase and I would buy it again. My only gripe is the cable speed test… I wish it had an analog speed rating for a cable rather than a quantified grouping.

The Tester does its job and does it well: very simple to use and accurate. Only issue I have with it is the unit I received was a refurbished device … paid for a new one … and for Fluke it is always a lot.

If you need to test through put on a cable, not just what a switch is advsrtising, this is the test set for you. Has all needed features, remotes work great and will save you a ton of effort. A note about TDR for those who don’t understand it: TDR sends a voltage pulse down the wire, and waits for a reflection (rcalled ‘ringing’ in electronics). It then calculates time of flight, divides by 2, and provides a measurement. TDR works ONLY on disconnected cables (both ends free). You cannot reliably TDR into/through a switch port because you don’t know what circuitry it has, of how it will handle it. This meter is a joy and worth every penny!
