I wanted something small and easy to carry in my backpack that will give me the functionality of a $3K Network Analyzer. I have tested this unit against a well-known brand at work and this does everything it does and more, except for wire mapping. Is this the same quality, no but I’m not spending $3k on it. I’m a network engineer by trade and this has saved me so much time troubleshooting and going back and forth picking up the expensive brand to use. Well worth the $150.

As my home and small office networks evolve my tools need to evolve with it. In twenty years I’ve pulled three different generations of cable through my attic, and now I’m introducing power-over-ethernet devices. I have several PoE cameras, a few access points, and collocated switches.
So far I’ve used this to test cables, check online/offline status, and presence of PoE. I’m sure I’m only taking advantage of a fraction of what this device is capable of, but I’m learning more every time I use it. Soon I’ll dig into IP Discovery, IP Scan, Ping, and its use as a multimeter.
In the box you get the device, remote wand, meter leads, RJ11 to RJ11 cable, RJ45 to RJ45 cable, RJ45 to BNC adapter, BNC to open leads cable, and a case to keep it all together. First thing you need to do is open the battery panel on the back of the device and plug the battery in. Mine arrived with ~15% charge so I charged the device and wand overnight. Both charge by USB-C and I have USB-C power delivery ports all around my house.
Unlike some of the OTDR’s I’ve used, the learning curve isn’t too steep. The ports are labeled, and when you want to test something it has a small icon that tells you what RJ45 port you should be connected to. With the icon, clearly labeled ports, and some basic networking terminology someone with intermediate knowledge should be able to fumble their way through.
Do I recommend it? Some may find the $150 price tag steep, but it has saved me a lot of time. It is currently 135*F in my attic, and it has saved me hours of belly crawling around. I think it’s a solid 4-Star product.

I used it in a lab setting and appreciated how many functions were consolidated into one device. The touchscreen was responsive, and the cable length testing was accurate. It’s compact but powerful, making it a solid field tool.
