Building codes in my area do not require power ventilation of bathrooms if a window is “nearby.” Finally installed this highly recommended product and it has been a Game Changer!! Previously, the fogged-up mirrors and moisture created by the shower would previously be picked up by the HVAC and distributed throughout the house which is not ideal. Starting this JEWEL beforehand via an on/off wall switch redirects and eliminates the excessive steam and moisture from entering the system and directs it via the 4-inch hose (sold separately) to the vented to the soffits, then to the atmosphere. I am happy that this exhaust fan helps with controlling the atmosphere in the house and controls or eliminates the possible mold and mildew problems.

I always question when a product like a fan claims to be quiet but this one truly is. I can’t hear it when running it during the shower or the faucet at the sink. I was even pissed off after installing it as I thought I had wired it wrong at first. It draws plenty of air at the 50 CFM setting and fixed my sauna issue in the bathroom. It was easy to install, just make sure you know where the studs are and expect insulation to rain down on you when the drywall comes down.
UPDATE: After just two weeks unit wont power on, despite checking all wiring, it seems motor died. Will follow up with warranty since return window expired.
More updatered: They sent a replacement motor unit and its working fine now. It was a bit tedious to do the exchange but they did it without too much fuss.
NOTE: The screws for the bracket are NOT self tapping and you will need to drill a pilot hole for them or use different wood screws for attaching to the ceiling studs.

I’ve installed over a dozen Panasonic bath exhaust fans, and every single time, the reaction from my customers is the same: pure amazement. These fans are incredibly quiet and impressively effective — a true upgrade from the typical noisy, underperforming units.
Panasonic has clearly put a lot of thought into making these ideal for replacement installs. Even for the average DIYer or handyman, the process is straightforward. Yes, you’ll likely need to adjust the electrical setup and cut a slightly larger opening in the drywall, but Panasonic makes it easy. They include a cutting template, all the necessary screws, and clear instructions. Each install has taken me about an hour — and just this month, I’ve done three!
Now, let’s talk about the noise — or rather, the lack of it. On the lowest setting, you might not even realize it’s running. Medium speed gives off a soft, pleasant hum. And even on high, it’s just a gentle white noise in the background. No rattling, no whining — just smooth, quiet airflow.
These fans clear out moisture and odors in no time. I honestly can’t emphasize enough how effective they are. If you’re looking for a reliable, whisper-quiet, and easy-to-install bath fan, Panasonic is the way to go.

I usually like to call out the specific things about a product I like in a review and then touch on some of the key drawbacks. With this Panasonic exhaust fan, I don’t have any of the latter. Everything about this fan was a treasure. For me, one key aspect was ‘retrofit’. Unlike most fans in this category, this one truly can be installed from the room and roof side under probably nearly all circumstances without needing attic access. In my situation that was crucial. The one limiting factor might be your ability to get power to it without attic access.
First, the overall design is obviously extremely well engineered, at every turn. Way too many things to list in a review. They thought of just about everything.
It’s also one of the most quiet fans I’ve ever owned at this flow rate. The ceiling opening is large enough to allow work from the room side into the attic space. The design allows connection of the exhaust duct and electrical onto a removable side plate from the room side, which is then mounted into the celing bracket. Then the fan assembly simply slides into that. Amazing!
Anyway, if you don’t need retrofit capabilities, there might be cheaper choices out there though as quiet as this one, I don’t know. But if retrofit is important in your situation, look no further!

I’d used Panasonic Whisper fans before and knew they were solid. These retrofit models were easy to install, the selectable speed is a nice touch, and the difference in noise is night and day. The silence is worth every penny. Highly recommended.
