I’m a retired network engineer and haven’t done cabling for years. I had to use several tools and have someone at the other end to test or just pray I crimped the connector right. This tool and tester is a tremendous improvement. I was not only able to test jumpers but place part of the tester in my closet and test the other end at the room I was working in. The crimp tool is a fantastic combo of tools I had to use in the past such as knife to remove sleeve, old style crimp, and dykes to trim. It does it all. Now need a tool to separate the leads and keep them in the right order as you push them in the connector. Lol.

I had to make up around 50 RJ45 jack ends and this tool worked great with no issues whatsoever. I’m not a pro so I can’t say how it would hold up using it all day every day but for a casual user like myself it works great without a huge price tag. I did discover this tool will work with multiple types of RJ45 jacks such as the pass through ones that the crimp tool cuts the wire when crimped or the RJ45 connectors that don’t allow the wires to pass through. I sided both kinds and the tool did great for both types.

This Brileine RJ45 crimp tool set works exactly as it should — clean crimps, easy pass-through cutting, and solid construction. The simplicity and speed it takes to complete a termination is super useful. The real standout is the CAT6 line tester, which is a must-have if you’re doing any DIY Ethernet installs. It made testing and verifying my runs quick and stress-free. Great value for a complete kit!

A good tool. I don’t do this professionally, there might be faster tools! The only issue I had with this is the slight difficulty in feeding the passed through wires through the small gap at the side of the tool. Resolved trivially by just twisting them together a tiny bit after passing through the connector prior to inserting it into the tool. Trimming them a bit prior would also be a 100% solution.

Works great for regular cat cable. a little difficult with thicker outdoor cat cable and it cut the internal wires along with the outside insulation/shield.
For internal/regular cat cable it works great. used the tool to do two ends – tooks approx 10mins total. worked great.

In my quest to make some cat 6 cables for myself, I purchased this item not really knowing much about terminating Ethernet cable. I now know a lot more than I used to as I suffered through BAD CRIMP after bad crimp with this tool. I bought “better” rj45 connectors and still got bad crimps. The blades of the rj45 were getting pushed to the side, the cut off ends were ragged because the tool’s blade was garbage, and so on. And another thing – the cheap cable testers that come with all these cheap brands are useless. They will tell you that everything is ok when it is not. The cables that I made “worked” but could not push more than 100Mbps due to the crosstalk at the ends of the cables. I wound up buying a Platinum Tools EXO Crimp Frame with an ezEX-RJ45 die. I also bought the “ezEX44” RJ45 connectors that Platinum Tools make specifically for use with this crimp tool. This is expensive stuff, but it works perfectly. If you are serious about properly terminating CAT 6 cabeling, don’t bother with any of these cheap tools, get the good stuff.

I’ve used this to make over a hundred crimps so far. It’s easy to use and the diagram on the side is nice. The tester that comes with it is handy for diy but not the best tester, will let you know if you mis matched wires or a connection is bad but doesn’t transmit data speeds and such. For the price is worth it. The tool itself is decent quality and seems pretty durable.

Really useful for when you’re installing ethernet at home, or just making an RJ45 cable. The RJ45 connectors it includes are pass-through, so crimping is easy and not a pain. The cut/crimp also comes out nice and perfect, haven’t made any major errors yet. It also includes other useful tools like a cable cutter, and a wire tester (although I haven’t used it yet since I lack the batteries it needs).
