I’ve been running this in my home office for a while now, and it’s been pretty straightforward. For not much more than the price of an unmanaged switch, this one has some useful management features. I haven’t done that much with it other than to set a static IP, aggregate bandwidth across a couple ports, and stuff like that. But it has done everything I need it to do, and the management interface is easy to understand. It comes with ears for rack mounting and fits properly in 1U. I don’t notice any throughput issues, which I have encountered occasionally with low-cost switches. For the money, I think it’s a good product.
One observation: technologies like port aggregation or SMB multichannel will use up switch ports in a hurry. Don’t be afraid to buy more ports than you think you need. I’m OK with 24, but 32 wouldn’t have been a bad idea.

The switch does the job. The build quality is very good. It’s made of metal as opposed to many that are built of plastic. For the price you are definitely getting something premium.
It also supports VLANs and more configuration by going to the TP Link config site.

Cheap managed switch that is super easy to setup and use!

I was using an 8 port unmanaged switch and then had to daisy chain that to another 5 port switch and then started asking myself, “what am I doing?!”. Pulled a 2 for 1 switch (pun intended) to this guy and now I have ports on ports on ports. It looks really awesome mounted behind my TV stand. The brackets were able to be installed in a way that it mounts very nicely (see photo). I also found it very simple to set up the smart functions and network prioritization, with a little help from ChatGPT!

I bought this for it’s VLAN functionality, and for me, it works great. I was originally using a few 8 port HP Switches to manage my network of: HDMI over Ethernet, Tivo BOLT with 2 mini-bolts, 4 IP security camera’s, NAS for network storage and NVR, 2 Dell Servers for Database & Web development, and my desktop, plus all TV’s that connect to Internet Streaming via Ethernet. It could be a bit chatty at times, and we noticed it on occasion. I have my setup isolating a few items while giving access to the internet on port 24.
I’m not sure why people have an issue with VLAN 1, yes it’s the default for all ports but, if you configure all your ports to a new VLAN, then each port will only see data on it’s VLAN setup. Yes, VLAN 1 does get all traffic, but if a port is not configured to access VLAN 1, it does not see any of that traffic. My IP video distribution is a good example, it is setup to be isolated from any other port. Those ports assigned to that VLAN don’t see any other port traffic. And because all my other ports are assigned to other VLAN’s except VLAN 1, nothing else can access those video feeds. This is far from an Enterprise Switch with VLAN support, but it’s also far less expensive too. For a home office or small business, I think this is a great smart switch.

Investing in the TP-Link 24 Port Gigabit Switch was a game-changer for my home network, and its performance has been nothing short of stellar. This product proved to be well worth every penny, meeting and exceeding my expectations in every aspect.
I ran a setup that included miners, computers, and various devices throughout my house, and this switch effortlessly manages the traffic. The 24 ports provide the flexibility and scalability I need for my ever-expanding network, ensuring smooth communication between devices.
Setting up the switch was a breeze, and it seamlessly integrated into my existing network infrastructure. The gigabit speeds ensure lightning-fast data transfers, which is crucial for my demanding setup.
What sets this switch apart is its reliability. It has been a rock-solid performer, delivering consistent performance day in and day out. As I transition into my next house purchase, this TP-Link switch is one of the few networking components that I plan to hold onto – a testament to its durability and continued relevance.
The TP-Link 24 Port Gigabit Switch is a networking powerhouse that not only met my immediate needs but continues to impress as my network evolves. If you’re in need of a robust and reliable switch that delivers on its promises, look no further. A long-term investment that stands strong in the ever-evolving world of technology.

It’s a solid 10/100/1000 switch that supports all the basic stuff and a few bells and whistles. This would be great for small businesses, entry home lab users, and a fair amount of networking hopefulls looking to get some vendor agnostic networking experience due to how standard and normal this switch is.
This switch is simple and pretty bare bones, but it’s a great learning machine. It won’t hold your hands like a unifi, nor will it punish you for the slightest mistakes like a cisco. It lacks the power and personalities of those brands, but this is a good agnostic teacher for switches, switching, and networking.
Currently, this is in my homelab rack and it is holding up just fine. Sure I could probably do better with something more advanced, but this is good for entry users and people just starting out.

After I got past my own self-created mess, the installation went smoothly and was up and running smoothly. Only reason for 4 stars is the fact this switch is considered a business product and TP Link doesn’t have any support on the weekends.
