These are great smart switches for the price. I use them with Home Assistant and they were very easy to pair. I simply added them to the Tapo app which only takes a second. Then I added the Tapo integration in HA and immediately they were there. They work well and they are quick, with no lag at all. One thing I will say for anyone using the Tapo integration in HA is be aware that you have to go into the Tapo app and click your profile to see the case of your email address. It has to match exactly. Took me a couple mins to realize even though I registered with all lower case the app added two capitals. Until I matched that it kept failing to authenticate.

This smart switch has been a solid addition to my smart home setup. It’s very cost-effective, integrates seamlessly with Alexa, and works with the popular Tapo app, which I already use for other smart devices. Setup was straightforward, and I use it to control the lights in my garage—super convenient when coming and going.

Occasionally, it doesn’t seem to register when I give it a quick tap in passing, but that might be more about me not fully pressing it than a fault with the switch itself. Once you press it properly, it works reliably every time. The point of it, was to allow me to turn it on and off, with Alexa while in my garage/gym. There is no dimming, but my lights don’t dim anyways. It can be set to a timer if you need it to be.

For the price, features, and performance, this is a great smart switch. I’ll likely be adding more of these throughout the house.

Es un interruptor bastante bueno para el precio y funciona a la perfección, muy satisfecho

The Tapo dimmer connects easily to your WiFi and is controllable via an app. If you are into techy stuff you can download a program that runs under Linux (on a Raspberry Pi even) called ‘kasa’. The program will allow you to control the dimmer from the command line (turn on/off, set brightness, obtain status). In fact, if you want only local control without connection to the cloud, you can write a firewall rule in your router which will prevent the dimmer from “phoning home” (wherever that might be). Then you can be assured that you and only you can be in control of it.

Most of our switches are Kasa but decided to try the Tapo since it was a bit cheaper. Installation was easy and I had to install the Tapo app which imported all of my Kasa switches and settings.

Kasa Switches often have more advanced features, like:
    – 3-way switch compatibility
    – Energy monitoring (for some plugs)
    – Slightly better support for things like Home Assistant and Alexa routines

Tapo Switches are more focused on affordability and simplicity, with:
    – Basic scheduling and remote control
    – Focus on plug-and-play usability

Both support Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Kasa may offer slightly broader smart home integrations, including IFTTT and SmartThings (though this varies by model).

Tapo (the successor of Kasa) is one of my favorite affordable smart home brands for the wide range of appliances they offer to help you automate your home. They have a sensor or switch for just about every purpose, making them a great option for home security and surveillance as well! These paddle switches are super easy to wire in and set up with their app. The build quality has held up for me the past 3 years! These particular switches DO NOT DIM, but they DO have a Dimming option available in another product. They’ve always had excellent connectivity, so as long as you have a modern and powerful enough router for your home size & network device needs.

I will mention, TP-Link is a Chinese company and has been known for poor security practices in some of their routers, as well as their smart devices pinging IP Addresses located in China for unknown reasons. Likely for analytics of your home network, along side their API, at best. That aside, I will continue to build my Tapo-Smart home, one device at a time!

Got this similar switch as a follow-up install, and it’s been solid so far. The setup was straightforward and everything works as expected. My only hesitation in giving it 5 stars is that I haven’t had it long enough to test its long-term reliability. But for now, it’s done exactly what I needed.

I have other products made by this company including all my security cameras. So, instead of downloading another app on my phone I stayed with TP-Link for a dimmer/light switch for my kitchen. The product is very straight forward and was very easy to install. It also comes with very good instructions. I have always liked TP-Links products and have several of their security cameras outside. This is the first light switch and I’m pretty sure the brand will continue to impress me. The price is fair for the product and now I am able to use the dimmer function to adjust the lighting either with the switch or from the app on my phone. Solid built sleak looking switch.

Para empezar se requiere cablear un neutro, la atenuación no es muy proporcional.
Y lo peor si mantienes la atenuación en la mitad o menos, el control emite zumbido.

The media could not be loaded.

I picked up these switches on a lark, not sure if they’d even work — but I was pleasantly surprised. Setup with the app was so simple that I immediately started dreaming up ways to use them. Next thing you know, I’ve got cameras in the horse barn and I’m spying on the horses at night while they snooze. 🐴

Functionally, no complaints: they do exactly what they should and are easy to manage. The only drawback is physical size. The switches themselves take up a lot of room in the junction box, and since all the connections require wire nuts (no push-in style connectors), it gets cramped quickly. A single box is fine, but in a 3–4 gang box, space would be really tight.

Overall, they work great and add some unexpected fun to my setup — just be ready to wrestle with the wiring space.
